Last night, a massive light brightened our room as if someone was standing with a spotlight on our balcony. I would’ve thought it was car lights, but since we are many stories up, the car would have been on top of the next building nearby.

This morning, I read the following:

Well, it wasn’t the end of the world, or even of all life as we know it. Nope, not a close encounter of the third, or even fourth kind. But a bright light in the sky just after midnight Wednesday morning certainly got the attention of skywatchers

[…]

The light, described by some as a bright green glow that seemed to explode in a bright display, was a meteor. Scientists say the cosmic visitor traveled into our part of the heavens from the northeast.

Yeah right. Consider what I did as soon as I saw the phenomenon—I threw on my robe, ran to the window, swept open the blinds, and jump onto the balcony. Sounds very “A Visit from St. Nicholas”. I wonder if NORAD has any evidence of the whereabouts of a certain half-elf last night. Looking at the picture below, it sure looks like the residue of the new sleigh he has been eyeing. I think this was just a little test run around the neighborhood.
